40 Miles Never Looked So Good

Join us for the TD Five Boro Bike Tour on Sunday, May 3
Last year was Keep a Child Alive’s first year participating in the TD Five Boro Bike Tour. I can speak from experience what an incredible opportunity it was.
I was someone who was terrified to get on a bike… so attempting the streets of NYC seemed impossible. The second time I got out on my bike, terrified to ride the 1-mile to Prospect Park on Brooklyn’s busy narrow streets, I thought to myself—what if I just can’t do it? Then I remembered what I was doing it for—that even though AIDS has fallen from the headlines, this global epidemic is still huge. And that there is hope in sight. The resources are out there, we just need to help make sure they are getting into the hands of those who need it most. And that by riding for KCA, I would be helping to bring awareness to the situation and raising funds that would directly transform the lives of children and families affected by HIV. So I forced myself to face my fears and continued on to Prospect Park. On my third ride, I went out alone and made it all the way to the bottom of the George Washington Bridge in Manhattan. That’s all it took. A reminder of why I was doing it… and suddenly, I was hooked.
Now I want you to have that experience, too. Or maybe you already love biking. Either way, we’d love to have you on our TD Five Boro Bike Tour team! The event is sold out so they only way to participate now is with a charity.
How does it work?
On Sunday, May 3, about 32,000 cyclists will be coming together for the TD Five Boro Bike Tour, a scenic 40-mile bike ride across car-free streets of NYC’s five boroughs. As a charity rider, we ask that you raise a minimum of $1,000 in support of Keep a Child Alive. Your donations will go directly toward providing treatment, nutritious food, and loving care to children and families affected by HIV in Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda, South Africa, and India.
In return, Keep a Child Alive will provide you with the following:
- Guaranteed entry to the TD Five Boro Bike Tour on Sunday, May 3, 2015
- Online fundraising page
- Priority start in the first wave
- Breakfast and lunch available on the day-of
- Regular e-mails with fundraising tips
- KCA t-shirt
- Someone happy to help you through the whole process (me!)
