Experience New York like you never have before!
By: Monica Merlis | December 21st, 2015
On Sunday, May 1st, Keep a Child Alive will be participating in the TD Five Boro Bike Tour. This event will always be special in my heart. I used to be absolutely petrified of riding a bike. But in 2014, I enlisted KCA to be a part of this incredible experience of riding 40 miles through the car-free streets of all 5 boroughs of New York City. On a whim, I decided to overcome my irrational fear and sign up. After all, it would be helping to raise awareness and support of children and families affected by HIV – who have to face their fears day in and day out.
If you love to bike, if you’re afraid of riding in the city, or yes—even if you’ve never gotten on a bike at all, this is the perfect chance for you to fall deeper in love with yourself, New York City, and to truly changes lives for the better.
How does it work?
On Sunday, May 1, about 32,000 cyclists will be coming together to ride 40 miles for the (always sold out) TD Five Boro Bike Tour. As a charity rider, we ask that you raise a minimum of $1,000 in support of Keep a Child Alive. Your donations will go directly toward providing not only treatment, but also nutrition, counseling, skill building, youth support groups, and even yoga and music classes to children and families affected by HIV in Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda, South Africa, and India.
In return, Keep a Child Alive will provide you with the following:
- Guaranteed entry to the TD Five Boro Bike Tour on Sunday, May 1, 2016
- Online fundraising page
- Priority start in the first wave
- Breakfast and lunch available on the day-of
- Regular e-mails with fundraising tips
- KCA t-shirt
- Someone happy to help you through the whole process (me!)
