Join us for the TCS New York City Marathon
By: Keep a Child Alive | February 24th, 2015
On the morning of Sunday, November 1, over 50,000 individuals from around the world will come together on Staten Island for the TCS New York City Marathon. If you’ve ever stood at the foot of the Verrazano Bridge, you’ll know how magical it is when you hear the gun go off and the blasting of New York, New York. It’s a feeling unlike any other.
If you aren’t already registered, the only way to participate now is with a charity. Lucky for you, we have a team this year in the world’s biggest and best marathon!
Why run with us?
You’re sure to make an impact! 35 million people are living with HIV today. Two out of five of them are unable to access the treatment they need. You’ll be raising awareness and much needed funds that will go toward the more than 50,000 people we serve annually in Africa and India. You’ll be helping to ensure that there are no new infections, no barriers to treatment, and no discrimination. That children affected by HIV and their families will be receiving the quality of life care they need and deserve so they can stay healthy and work toward their future. And you’ll be getting healthier and more fit in the process!
Ready to run? Here’s what you need to know:
As a Keep a Child Alive charity runner, you will receive guaranteed entry into the 2015 TCS New York City Marathon. You will be required to meet a minimum fundraising goal of $3,000 by Friday, October 16, 2015, as well as pay a race registration fee to New York Road Runners.
We’ll get you going with the following:
- KCA racing jersey
- KCA swag bag
- Online fundraising page and support
- Regular e-mails with fundraising and marathon training tips
If you have any questions, please reach out and let me know! I’ll be running, too (the picture above is me running last year!)—so I invite you to share with me about your recent blister, the pride you felt after completing your first long run, and all the other joys and challenges you experience during your training.
