Mashambanzou Care Trust

Previous Grant
Harare, Zimbabwe

The breathtaking photographs of Kristen Ashburn, which now accompany the Bono/Alicia duet of “Don’t Give Up Africa,” introduced KCA to Mashambanzou. In the Shona language of Zimbabwe, the word “mashambanzou” refers to the early hours of dawn when elephants take their morning bath, speaking symbolically and poignantly of new beginnings. Keep a Child Alive is thankful to have been able to provide Mashambanzou Care Trust with funding to pursue their mission: to help those infected with and affected by HIV/AIDS to overcome fear, hunger, stigma and discrimination they experience so that they may walk confidently into a new life of hope.
