The fundamental aim of Nyamila is to provide care and support to the large number of AIDS orphans in the rural Siaya community. The project is designed to address the immediate needs of the community’s orphans and vulnerable children, while strengthening the capacity of families to protect and care for the children. Since its establishment in March 2007, Nyamila has provided clean water, food, school materials and access to medical services to 137 children and their surviving caregivers in 47 households. KCA helped to purchase the vehicle that now transports the children to local hospital and clinic facilities that provide AIDS care, and helped build the center that now provides them a safe environment where they can learn, be loved and receive an education.
